Statement of Grief and Solidarity with Indigenous Communities
we stand in solidarity and deep mourning with Indigenous communities across Turtle Island in the face of ongoing discoveries of unmarked graves on the grounds of Residential Schools
we stand with families who have experienced this silenced loss and ongoing, intergenerational trauma
we acknowledge the immeasurable harms caused by residential schools, and policies designed to enact the genocide of Indigenous peoples, their culture, families and communities
we are committed to learning, unlearning, and actively engaging in action for change and healing at all levels of our WHAI work
this work is all of our work. we are all responsible for reconciliation...
...today, every day and always
we are committed to taking responsibility for the failings of Canada
- across Turtle Island.
we acknowledge and are grateful for the resilience, leadership and wisdom of Indigenous communities who continue to teach, love, and fight for this land, truth, and justice.
