Contextualizing HIV Prevention for women facing systemic risk in Ontario
Join us for “Contextualizing HIV Prevention for women facing systemic risk in Ontario,” a workshop co-hosted by WHAI and CATIE on March 9th from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. ET.
In honour of International Women’s Day, this workshop is for anyone who works with women living with HIV or in community organizations that work with women who may be facing structural risk factors for HIV, including Trans, 2-Spirited and Non-Binary Femme people.
HIV prevention is the first step in the HIV-care continuum. Some women face a higher risk of acquiring HIV in Ontario due to complex structural factors like colonialism, racism, poverty, under-housing, and more. This workshop aims to highlight the powerful, collaborative community-led responses by people with lived experience of HIV and by service providers to address gaps in prevention.
This workshop will contextualize biomedical information within the broader context of structural factors that influence HIV risk and access to prevention strategies for women and femme people across Ontario. Service providers engaging in this workshop will have the opportunity to learn from a panel of experts who are leading the HIV response in Ontario. This workshop will also provide an opportunity for front-line workers to share knowledge and strategies for engaging women in HIV prevention.
