Overview:
HIV prevention medications are important tools to support women and gender-diverse people in their sexual health autonomy. Today, women and gender-diverse people continue to face barriers in awareness about, and access to, these medications. Join this 90-minute webinar to learn about the updated Canadian HIV pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis guidelines and community driven strategies to improve awareness about, and access to, these tools.
The webinar will include:
- An overview of the updated 2025 guidelines through a gender-inclusive lens by Dr. Malika Sharma (Unity Health Toronto)
- A community panel about the barriers women and gender-diverse people face and strategies to improve access with: Chelsea Davis (Fife House, Toronto), Hale Nouri (Maggies & ASAAP, Toronto), Priyanka Jani (HAMSMaRT, Hamilton), and Sam Tikka Scott (Ontario Aboriginal HIV / AIDS Strategy, Thunder Bay)
- An overview of WHAI’s new PrEP, PEP and PIP resources by Shanice Harris (CAYR Community Connections, York)
- Moderation by Sam Richards (Positive Health Network, Hamilton)
This webinar is for anyone who works with women and gender-diverse people who may face risk related to HIV or other STBBIs including those who work in the following fields: housing and homelessness, public and sexual health, harm reduction, settlement, shelters, drop ins, community education etc.
