Financial insecurity was repeatedly identified as a debilitating barrier to women and gender-diverse people&#8217;s health outcomes and access to HIV prevention, care, and support.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019autonomie \u00e9conomique a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crite comme :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>l\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 un logement s\u00fbr et stable<\/li>\n<li>l\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 une alimentation saine<\/li>\n<li>des moyens de transport s\u00fbrs et fiables<\/li>\n<li>des services de garde d\u2019enfants abordables<\/li>\n<li>des outils de communication<\/li>\n<li>la fourniture de m\u00e9dicaments<\/li>\n<li>un emploi r\u00e9mun\u00e9r\u00e9<\/li>\n<li>la capacit\u00e9 de subvenir aux besoins de sa famille, y compris des membres de la famille \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tranger<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Because health is more than just basic needs, women and gender-diverse people also noted the importance of access to educational opportunities that would enable economic growth; opportunities for grassroots organizing where they could enact community care; and funding opportunities to support women and gender-diverse people&#8217;s employment and work.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/whai.ca\/fr\/ressource\/collective-action-community-change-a-report-amplifying-community-voices\/\"  target=\"_self\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tEn savoir plus dans notre dernier rapport\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/whai.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/icon_househaeart.svg\" alt=\"icon_househaeart\" itemprop=\"image\" title=\"icon_househaeart\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t\t62%\n\t\t\t\t\t62% of women and gender-diverse people interviewed during WHAI&#8217;s community consultations indicated they have not been able to, or have only partially been able meet the practical needs of themselves and their family (n=121).<sup>1<\/sup>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/whai.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/icon_strawberry.svg\" alt=\"icon_strawberry\" itemprop=\"image\" title=\"icon_strawberry\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t\t50%\n\t\t\t\t\t50% of the cis and Trans women who participated in the OHTN Cohort Study 2022 survey reported household food insecurity (n=489).<sup>2<\/sup>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tQue fait l\u2019IFVS?\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>WHAI&#8217;s work in this area is anchored to community development in partnership with a strong network and includes:<\/p>\n\t<ul>\n<li>Networking with community partners to help inform strategies to address economic barriers faced by WHAI&#8217;s priority populations that increase risks related to HIV and impact access to HIV care and support (i.e., through workgroups and committee work)<\/li>\n<li>Renforcer la capacit\u00e9 communautaire \u00e0 offrir des voies de r\u00e9f\u00e9rences conviviales et pertinentes, vers des services d\u2019aide financi\u00e8re, d\u2019aide \u00e0 l\u2019emploi ou de soutien \u00e9ducatif<\/li>\n<li>Supporting capacity building initiatives and accessible wrap around services that enhance meaningful employment opportunities for WHAI&#8217;s priority populations, linking to GIPA and MEPA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tVoix de la communaut\u00e9\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>Notre travail est toujours guid\u00e9 par les exp\u00e9riences v\u00e9cues des femmes et des personnes de genres divers.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/whai.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/whai-commitments-carousel-ivy.png\" alt=\"Illustration of a green ivy plant with detailed leaves and a twisting vine on a white background.\" itemprop=\"image\" title=\"whai-commitments-carousel-ivy\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/whai.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/bb-plugin\/cache\/whai-community-voice-ivy-circle.jpg\" alt=\"Close-up of green ivy leaves with varied shades and details, growing densely.\" itemprop=\"image\" title=\"whai-community-voice-ivy\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We do not make enough money to meet all needs, underemployed (part-time), the rate of pay is too low, culturally relevant food is very expensive, rent is too high.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n&#8211; Community Voice from Sudbury\t\n\t\t\t\t<a href=\"\/fr\/\" target=\"_self\" itemprop=\"url\">\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/whai.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/bb-plugin\/cache\/whai-community-voice-eucalyptus-circle.jpg\" alt=\"Close-up of green eucalyptus leaves on a dark background.\" itemprop=\"image\" title=\"whai-community-voice-eucalyptus\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;A lot of women struggle financially; they do not have enough money to care for their families and also send to their home countries.
